Naperville, IL – Almost Home Kids formerly CoACH Care Center is preparing for a visit from Illinois State Treasurer, Alexi Giannoulias. His visit is especially timely in light of current health care reform that affects every American family despite socioeconomic status. His efficient stewardship of taxpayer dollars will be apparent as he meets the children who are medically fragile at the free standing home-like facility. Many of the children the center serves are at or below the poverty level and rely on government benefits to pay for their life sustaining care. Children who are medically fragile are generally dependent on technology such as tracheostomy/ ventilators to breathe or gastrostomy (feeding tubes) to eat.
Deborah A. Grisko, President & CEO is looking forward to sharing the community based model of alternative health care she and the Board of Directors have spent perfecting over the last two years with Treasurer Giannoulias. Almost Home Kids estimates that in FY 2008, their Transition Program has saved the State and Federal Governments over $4,500,000. The center is instrumental in keeping families out of the courts and together at home where they should be.
“We are the haven of hope for so many families across the state, and we’ve only just scratched the surface,” she says about Almost Home Kids. To learn more, visit www.almosthomekids.org
